Hyderabad: Three persons who were involved in theft of laptops and mobile phones were arrested by the Kukatpally police on Thursday. The police recovered seven laptops and a scooter from them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Patil Shivaji (23), Boin Venkatesham (21) and A Govardhan Reddy (23).
According to the police, the trio went to houses around midnight and looked for laptops and phones kept near the windows and stole it.
In most instances, youngsters are found to prefer to sit near windows and work on laptops. After completing the work, the gadget is left there itself with several not bothering to remember to close the window which usually ends up left open or partially closed.
“The gang after scaling the compound wall of the house or simply walking in to the unguarded apartment buildings checked for laptops and mobile phones left that way and took it away,” said Detective Inspector Kukatpally, S Anjaneyulu.
Afterwards the gang sold the stolen gadgets and spent the money for their personal needs, the Inspector added.
Following complaints, the police kept a watch and caught the gang on Thursday. On questioning, they admitted to the crime and were arrested. All of them were produced before the court and remanded.
