Hyderabad: Doctors from Care Hospitals, Malakpet, on Thursday announced the successful removal of a complex brain tumour in a 25-year-old male patient from Khammam.
The patient, who had been experiencing rapidly worsening hearing loss and imbalance, was diagnosed with Acoustic Schwannoma, a benign yet potentially dangerous tumor located at an angle, pressing against the brainstem, doctors said.
The surgical team opted for a high-precision right retromastoid suboccipital surgical approach, and the tumor was removed without causing any new neurological deficits. The patient recovered steadily, regained balance and mobility, and was discharged within 3 days.
The procedure was led by Dr Bhavani Prasad Ganji, Senior Neurosurgeon, supported by Dr M Lakshmi Prashanth Kumar, HOD, Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, and OT and ward staff, a press release said.
