Hyderabad: Admitting that food and other items sold at cinema theatre canteens were being sold at exorbitant rates, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the practice was a burden on cinema-goers and instructed the officials to implement price regulation measures.

At a meeting of the Sub-Committee on the Comprehensive Development of the Film Industry held here on Tuesday, the Deputy Chief Minister said Hyderabad should be developed into the Film Capital of India. He instructed the Information Department Commissioner and the Film Development Corporation to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) towards that end.

Ministers and Sub-Committee Members Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and D Sridhar Babu participated in the meeting and discussed various issues related to the industry.

Bhatti Vikramarka observed that currently, filmmakers wishing to shoot in the State were required to obtain separate permissions from multiple departments such as police, fire services and municipal authorities. To address this, the sub-committee decided to establish a single-window clearance system.

He instructed officials to appoint a dedicated officer within the Film Development Corporation to coordinate and expedite departmental approvals.

The Deputy Chief Minister also directed officials to organise the Telangana Gaddar Film Awards distribution ceremony, scheduled for June 14, on a grand scale.
