Hyderabad Traffic Police crack down on fake number plates

Hyderabad Traffic Police have launched a citywide crackdown on vehicles with fake or tampered registration plates, booking six criminal cases and seizing several vehicles in areas including Jubilee Hills, Malakpet, Begum Bazaar, Abids Road and Kacheguda.

Hyderabad: The City Traffic Police have intensified the special enforcement drive against vehicles using fake, tampered or unauthorised registration number plates following a surge in citizen complaints.

Over the past week, six criminal cases were registered and several vehicles were seized. Cases were booked across Jubilee Hills, Malakpet, Begum Bazar, Abid Road and Kacheguda police station limits.

Traffic Police authorities said that only government approved High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) are legal and warned that vehicles with fake or altered number plates will face criminal action.

The enforcement drive will continue across the city under its zero-tolerance policy, they said.
