Hyderabad traffic police launch 30 new patrol bikes funded by CSR to tackle congestion
The Hyderabad City Security Council and traffic police inducted 30 new patrol bikes worth Rs.1.60 crore to curb gridlock. Backed by CSR, the units will deploy via real-time CCTV monitoring to address breakdowns, accidents, and illegal parking
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC), in association with the Hyderabad traffic police, on Saturday inducted 30 new traffic patrol bikes to strengthen traffic management and improve road safety in the city.
Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar flagged off the new fleet and also felicitated representatives of 45 corporate organisations that supported the Traffic Marshals programme under their CSR initiatives.
Sajjanar said 30 Avenger patrol bikes were procured through CSR contributions worth Rs.1.60 crore, taking the city’s total fleet of traffic patrol bikes to 80. The mobile units will be deployed based on real-time CCTV monitoring to quickly respond to traffic jams, accidents and vehicle breakdowns. They will also help remove illegal parking and other obstructions on major roads.
Hyderabad has nearly 95 lakh vehicles, with 1,500 to 2,000 new vehicles being added every day, making traffic management a major challenge for the existing workforce, he said adding that 120 traffic marshals have been deployed over the past six months to assist police personnel, especially in helping students, senior citizens and patients cross busy roads safely.
He also highlighted the expansion of the women-led ‘Spandana’ emergency response vehicles and called on more corporate organisations to support traffic management initiatives through HCSC.
