HYDERABAD: Protest erupted at the Agriculture University at Rajendranagar after authorities uprooted a huge number of trees using JCBs on Saturday night.

According to reports, the trees on 20 acres of land were removed overnight by officials of different government agencies under police protection.

Around midnight, the gates of the hostels were locked, and police were posted outside to prevent the students from coming outside and hindering the work.

The students argued that the State government is determined to damage the ecosystem and demanded an immediate halt to the works.
