Hyderabad: The Shabad Police on Wednesday arrested the driver of a container truck involved in an accident in which two teenagers were killed at Sardarnagar on September 8. The police said the driver was under the influence of alcohol and a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was booked against him.
The arrested person was Syed Mateen from Erragadda. Police said Mohd Azhar, owner of the vehicle, was absconding. Police said Mateen, who was driving quite fast in an inebriated condition, lost control of the steering wheel and the vehicle turned over on Pavan (18) and Vikranth (18), both mechanics from Kakloor in Shabad. Both died on the spot.
The vehicle owner did not have valid vehicle insurance, so he was booked under the MV Act. The Cyberabad Traffic Police said drunk driving has been the major cause of road accidents and fatalities in Cyberabad. Hence, they have been taking stringent legal action against such violators.
