Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Task Force along with the Jubilee Hills police on Wednesday raided a house at Yadagiri Nagar in Yousufguda and arrested two persons apart from seizing 26 kilograms of marijuana from them. Both the persons were working as light technicians in Telugu films.
Police said the suspects were procuring marijuana from Visakhapatnam to sell it to drug peddlers in Dhoolpet. The arrested persons were V Madhan Rao (30) and B Yugandhar (23), both working as light technicians for film shoots, and natives of Anakapalle in Vishakapatnam.
According to the police, Madhan had begun peddling drugs since his income from working as a technician in the Telugu film industry was meagre. He had visited Dhoolpet and developed contacts with local marijuana sellers by convincing them he could supply marijuana from the Paderu agency area.
“For the last six months, he was procuring marijuana from his source in the Paderu agency and transporting it in private buses to Hyderabad,” police said. Recently, the duo went to Paderu and bought the 26 kgs of marijuana, which they kept in their room.
Following a tip-off, the Task Force and the Jubilee Hills police raided the room and nabbed the two, who were handed over to the Jubilee Hills police for further action.
