Hyderabad: Two held for sharing fake news on CM KCR

Hyderabad: Two persons including a juvenile were apprehended by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force on charges of circulating fake news on Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
According to the police, B. Shekar (36) a farmer from Nalgonda district, along with a juvenile aged 16 years and an intermediate student, circulated fake news in a WhatsApp group called ‘Theenmaar Mallanna Fans” in March. The post was widely shared on social media after being posted in the WhatsApp group.
“The boy had received fake news about Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and later forwarded it to Shekar who shared it on social media,” said KVM Prasad, ACP (Cybercrime). Based on a complaint, the Cybercrime police (Hyderabad) booked a case and took up investigation.
On Saturday, the two were apprehended by the Hyderabad Police.
