Hyderabad: A two-year-old girl died after allegedly consuming a chemical used for testing gold at a jewellery store in Chintal, Jeedimetla, where her parents had taken her to buy gold for the festival.
The child, Misha, was the daughter of Gopikrishna and Janaki, residents of Chintal. According to the police and the family, the couple had visited the jewellery store with their daughter three days ago when the incident occurred.
While her parents were looking at jewellery, the child was playing inside the store. She allegedly consumed a chemical used to test gold. Her parents rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she died while undergoing treatment after her condition deteriorated on Friday.
Holding the jewellery store management responsible for their daughter’s death, the grieving parents and relatives staged a protest outside the establishment, alleging negligence on the management’s part.
