Hyderabad: Veterinarian duped by cyber fraudsters of Rs 1.7 lakh

They cheated in the guise of providing vaccination to dogs belonging to the Indian Army

Hyderabad: A veterinarian from the city was cheated by cyber fraudsters to the tune of Rs 1.7 lakh allegedly in the guise of providing vaccination to dogs belonging to the Indian Army.

As per available information, the veterinarian who works in a private clinic in the city had recently received a call from an unidentified person who claimed to be associated with Indian Army. The suspect then inquired about the vaccination process and vaccinating 90 dogs at the Army campuses.

The scammer further is learnt to have persuaded and tricked the complainant to share the bank credentials including the OTPs received on his mobile phone for payments confirmation pertaining to the vaccinations.

Believing the offer to be true, the complainant shared all details and an amount of Rs 1.7 lakh was siphoned off from his bank accounts.

However, when the complaint tried to contact back, the phones were switched off, which was then that it was found to be fraud.

Based on a complaint, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police booked a case and took up the investigation. Officials suspect it to be the work for interstate cyber fraudsters and efforts are on to identify and nab them.
