Hyderabad vet’s organ donation gives second chance to four patients
The surgical teams retrieved 2 kidneys, a liver and lungs (4 organs in all) and allocated them to patients based on Jeevandan organ donation guidelines.
Hyderabad: Family members of a 34-year-old veterinarian Bandi Kiran, a resident of Akkinepally village, Mogullapalle subdivision, Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, who was declared brain dead by a team of attending doctors, have decided to donate the organs of the deceased to needy patients under the State-run Jeevandan initiative.
The veterinarian was suffering from high blood pressure for the past two years and on July 17, at his home in Uppal, he suffered a sudden spike in blood pressure and immediately collapsed.
Family members rushed him to a private hospital in Hyderabad, where he was under ICU care. With no development in his health status, the attending doctors at the private hospital declared the veterinarian brain dead at 2.20 pm on July 21, 2025.
The father of the veterinarian, Bandi Sudharshan, gave the consent to donate his organs to needy patients under the Jeevandan initiative. The surgical teams retrieved 2 kidneys, a liver and lungs (4 organs in all) and allocated them to patients based on Jeevandan organ donation guidelines.
