Hyderabad: To help voters easily trace their electoral data from 2002, the District Electoral Officer, Hyderabad, on Tuesday released a constituency-wise correlation statement linking the present Assembly constituencies with the old ones that existed in 2002.
The correlation statement maps all 15 Assembly constituencies within the current Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits to the constituencies that existed in 2002. After the delimitation exercise, several new constituencies were formed by merging polling stations from two or more old constituencies.
For instance, the present Malakpet constituency has 210 polling stations from Malakpet and 22 polling stations from Yakutpura constituency, while the present Amberpet constituency includes 173 polling stations that were earlier under Himayatnagar constituency.
Further, the present Nampally constituency comprises 135 polling stations from Asif Nagar and 93 polling stations from Karwan, while the present Charminar constituency includes 41 polling stations from Yakutpura, 59 from Chandrayangutta and 107 from Charminar.
As the Election Commission of India (ECI) has insisted on linking present voter details with the SIR 2002 list, electors can now use the correlation statement to ascertain their previous data with ease. However, they need to know the name of their previous Assembly constituency.
For example, if a voter was part of the erstwhile Himayatnagar constituency, he or she has to search for their details in the present Amberpet or Khairatabad constituency, as polling stations from the old Himayatnagar constituency were merged into the Amberpet and Khairatabad constituencies.
Likewise, electors enrolled in the Asif Nagar constituency in 2002 have to search for their previous details in the present Nampally, Khairatabad or Goshamahal constituencies.
