Hyderabad: Rajendranagar on the city suburbs has been gripped by fear after a series of gruesome crimes reported within just one week, raising serious concerns over public safety and policing in the area.

On Tuesday night, the body of a man was found near the Prof. Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University along the Bengaluru National Highway service road. The victim was discovered lying in a pool of blood, with police confirming that his throat had been slit with a sharp weapon. Investigators suspect he may have been murdered elsewhere before his body was dumped at the spot.

This shocking murder comes close on the heels of two other disturbing incidents in the zone with just a week ago. A woman was brutally raped and murdered, sending shockwaves across the locality. Adding to the tension, a case related to an attempt to murder by a contract killing gang was reported in Mailardevpally on Tuesday, where assailants tried to kill a man in what appears to be a contract attack.

With three back to back serious crimes including a rape-murder, a contract killing attempt, and now a brutal throat-slitting, the residents are alarmed. Many fear the emergence of a disturbing pattern of violent crimes in the area.

Police say they are investigating all three cases separately but are also examining possible links.
“We are always on alert and our teams are on continuous patrol in the areas. In most cases in our zone, the crime takes place elsewhere and the bodies are dumped here. However, patrols have been intensified, and special teams have been formed to trace the culprits,” said T Srinivas, ACP, Rajendranagar.
