Hyderabad: There is a lingering chill in the air, reminding people of this year’s peak winter and at the same time, the maximum temperatures in Hyderabad are touching 30 degree Celsius, a clear indication of the seasonal transition.
As Hyderabad and Telangana districts head towards the months of summer, the general public is now witnessing a small transitional window where it is neither too hot nor too cold for comfort.
The pleasant phase of weather is being attributed to low-level easterlies, winds that blow from East to the West, that are maintaining moisture and preventing a sharp spike in heat.
According to weather data from IMD-Hyderabad, the city is currently experiencing a stable transition. While daytime temperatures have begun reaching 30 degree Celsius, night temperatures are hovering around 19 degree C.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD), New Delhi has categorized the South Peninsular region as likely to experience ‘normal’ minimum temperatures for February.
Data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) has indicated that minimum temperatures in city outskirts and districts are hovering from 12 degree Celsius and 18 degree Celsius in and around the GHMC area.
Private weather forecasters such as R Balaji (Telangana Weatherman on X) has indicated that cold winds are expected to continue till February. “The sun will likely get harsher toward the end of the month. By mid-February, however, the influence of an evolving ENSO-neutral phase will likely trigger a rise in daytime temperatures above 32 degree Celsius, effectively ending the 2025-26 winter season”.
