Hyderabad: Though the cloudy skies portend rains but it turns out to be a brief localized drizzle. Within minutes, the clouds get replaced by sun, which shines just like summer with high humidity. And, in a few moments, it’s once again cloudy and accompanied with winds.
It’s easy to get confused by the ongoing weather in Hyderabad, as the month August, known to bring a lot of rains, draws to an end. While August forces people to carry umbrellas and raincoats, this year, the weather in August has been unpredictable due to spells of hot and humid conditions, frequently interspersed by windy and overcast conditions.
The weather has been playing truant all through the month with not a single major spell of heavy downpour. Except for the generic advisory of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms along with heavy winds, the IMD, Hyderabad has not issued any heavy rainfall alert till the end of August.
The fluctuating weather might offer temporary relief from heat, but the lack of rains has kept humidity high. The IMD, Hyderabad forecast has indicated humidity will range between 70 percent to 75 percent till September 1.
While the jury is still out over the performance of the monsoon in Telangana, for now, it appears as if people might have to continue to live under skies that promise a lot but deliver little.
