Hyderabad: A woman from Jubilee Hills was allegedly cheated to the tune of Rs 2 crore in a land deal in Vikarabad district. Police said S Bhakta Priya of Bhagwati Nagar, who wanted to purchase 12 acres of land at Pudur in Vikarabad two years ago, agreed to the deal for Rs 9.4 crore with its owner Mirza Hussain Ali Khan, a resident of Banjara Hills.
“She gave Rs 2 crore as advance and blocked the deal and decided to get the land registered. However, last year due to financial constraints, she sought two months’ time to go for registration. The land owner, however, insisted on getting the whole sum immediately saying that otherwise, he would sell the land to others and return the advance,” police said.
However, even after selling the land, he did not return the advance to Bhakta Priya. Following a complaint, the police booked a case of cheating and have taken up investigation.
