Hyderabad: Woman, granddaughter drown in Peeram Cheruvu
In Narsingi, Yousuf Bee and her 14-year-old granddaughter Sabiya drowned in Peeram Cheruvu while washing clothes. Another granddaughter, Naziya, survived. Police and Disaster Response Force retrieved the bodies, which were sent for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered
Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a woman and her granddaughter drowned in Peeram Cheruvu, Narsingi, on Tuesday.
According to the police, an elderly Yousuf Bee (55) went to Peeram Cheruvu, along with her two granddaughters, Sabiya (14) and Naziya (16), on Tuesday morning.
Yousuf Bee, while washing the clothes, slipped and fell into the water. “On noticing it, both her granddaughters entered the pond to save her. However, Sabiya also drowned along with Yousuf Bee, while Naziya managed to swim to safety,” said Narsingi police.
On being alerted, the police reached the spot and, with the help of expert swimmers from the Disaster Response Force and the Fire Department, retrieved the bodies of Yousuf Bee and Sabiya from the pond.
A case is registered and the bodies are shifted to Osmania General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
