Hyderabad: Woman raped by bus driver in a private travels bus

One of the drivers who offered her a seat sexually assaulted and threatened her of dire consequences if revealed the matter.

Hyderabad: A housewife was raped allegedly by a man in a private travels bus three days ago. The incident came to light after the victim approached the police and a case was registered against the suspect.

According to the police, the victim boarded a bus at Kukatpally to travel to Vijayawada on Thursday. One of the drivers of the bus offered a seat to the woman. When the bus reached Chotuppal on city outskirts the man who offered her the seat, sexually assaulted the woman in the bus and threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed to anyone about it.

The woman reached Vijayawada and did not inform anyone. Later when she developed some health related issues, the family of the woman enquired about it and the victim revealed to them about the sexual assault.

The victim and the family members headed to Hyderabad and made a complaint with the Chotuppal police who registered a ‘zero FIR’ and transferred the case to Kukatpally police on grounds of jurisdiction. The police are investigating.
