Hyderabad: In an incident of sexual assault and physical torture, a man allegedly attacked his female colleague at her residence in Somajiguda under Punjagutta police limits.
The suspect, identified as A Bhanu Prakash, reportedly assaulted the woman, inflicted injuries with scissors, and threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.
As per available information, the survivor, a native of Guntur, had moved to the city to pursue a fashion designing course but discontinued it midway due to financial constraints. She later started working as a technical support executive at a private firm near Lanco Hills and lived with friends in an apartment in Somajiguda.
During her employment, she became acquainted with Bhanu Prakash, who worked in the same company. He allegedly promised to marry her and lured her into a relationship. However, when differences arose, the suspect began to harass and physically assault her frequently.
On the night of October 26, Bhanu Prakash allegedly forced his way into the woman’s flat, threatened her roommates, and confined them before sexually assaulting the victim. He then allegedly attacked her with scissors, causing injuries, and warned her of dire consequences if she disclosed the assault to anyone.
The terrified woman later lodged a complaint with the Punjagutta police. Based on her statement, police registered a case under relevant sections and arrested Bhanu Prakash, who was remanded to judicial custody on Wednesday.
