Hyderabad: Woman’s account looted by fake cutomer care executive

An unidentified person posing as a customer care executive responded and collected her bank details including an OTP she received on her phone

Hyderabad: A woman from Amberpet was cheated of Rs 1.2 lakh by some miscreants posing as customer care executives when she tried to return a sari she had bought online for Rs 500.

Police said the woman had recently bought a saree for Rs 500 on an e-commerce website and wanted to return it because she did not like the product when it was delivered. While searching for the website of the garment shop, she found a customer care number and called up.

An unidentified person posing as a customer care executive responded and collected her bank details including an OTP she received on her phone. The fraudsters then utilised the OTP to loot Rs 1.2 lakh amount from her account.

Police registered a case and are investigating.
