Hyderabad: Over 500 pulmonologists from across the country took part in ‘Nodule Summit 2024’, a two-day international conference organised by Yashoda Hospitals, Hitec City, in which approach to diagnosis and management of lung nodules was discussed.
On the occasion, a ‘Lung Nodule Clinic’, conceptualized by Dr.V. Nagarjuna Maturu, Head, Pulmonary Medicine, Yashoda hospitals, Hitec City, where patients with lung nodules will be given the correct diagnostic approach and therapy, was inaugurated by Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, Director, Yashoda Group of Hospitals.
Lung diseases, especially lung cancers, tuberculosis and pneumonias are on the rise in our country. “In most instances, lung cancer is diagnosed when it has already advanced, limiting the chances of survival. With increasing use of CT scans, in a number of instances, lung nodules are picked up which often represent an early stage of lung cancer. If we diagnose lung nodules correctly, many times we can diagnose cancers in the early stages and cure the person,” experts said.
The ‘Nodule Summit 2024’ also featured international faculty including Dr. Mashahide Oki (Japan), Dr. Kyle Hogarth (USA), Dr. Yaun Ming Tsai (Taiwan), Dr. Lin Sheng Hao (Taiwan) and Dr. Eric Daniel Tenda (Indonesia).
