Hyderabad: More than 500 cyclists from different walks of life participated in a cyclothon titled ‘Pedal for Arthritis Awareness’, held between Yashoda Hospital, Secunderabad, and Necklace Road on Sunday.
Organised on the occasion of World Arthritis Day, the cyclothon was flagged off by Yashoda Hospitals Director Dr Pavan Gorukanti. The event aimed to raise awareness about arthritis and highlight the importance of physical activity, an active lifestyle and joint mobility.
“Our aim is to inspire people to recognise joint problems early and stay physically active throughout their lives,” Dr Pavan Gorukanti said.
Orthopaedic surgeon and robotic joint replacement specialist Dr Vikram Byre said, “Arthritis should not be seen as a condition that forces people to stop moving. In fact, appropriate movement and regular physical activity are important ways of maintaining joint function and overall mobility.”
Clinical and non-clinical staff, along with Dr Vijay Kumar, Dr A. Lingaiah and Dr Vishnu Reddy, orthopaedic and joint replacement surgeons, and physiotherapy teams, were present at the event.
