Hyderabad: Over 1,000 health enthusiasts, care givers and people from all walks of life turned-up to take part in a walkathon event organised by Yashoda Hospitals, Somajiguda at Necklace Road on Sunday on the occasion of World Osteoporosis Day, aimed at creating awareness about rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases.
To ensure individuals have healthy bones, doctors urged people to walk for 45 minutes five days a week. “Walking is a free activity that can be done by anyone at anytime and at any place. We can choose the distance and place. Moving the joints and body will help ease stiffness and help posture related pains.
Going out into the nature will give fresh air that will help boost our mind set,” Dr. Pavan Gorukanti, Director, Yashoda group of Hospitals, who flagged-off the Walkathon, said.
Doctors urged people not to believe the myth that they should not walk if they have arthritis. On the contrary, they should walk so that the speed of arthritis progression is decreased, Senior Orthopedic Surgeon, Yashoda Hospitals, Dr. Sunil Dachapalli said.
