Hyderabad: YMCA honours basketball stars Geethu and Anita

Geethu, an Arjuna Awardee, made history as India’s first professional player in the Australian League, while Anita, a Padma Shri awardee, is celebrated for her exceptional skills and leadership.

Hyderabad: The YMCA of Greater Hyderabad recently honoured legendary Indian women’s basketball players Geethu Anna Jose and Anita Pauldurai for their outstanding contributions to Indian basketball.

Geethu, an Arjuna Awardee, made history as India’s first professional player in the Australian League, while Anita, a Padma Shri awardee, is celebrated for her exceptional skills and leadership. Both players have captained the Indian team at numerous international events.


YMCA officials, including Norman Swaroop Isaac (Treasurer), Dr Eugene George (Director of Sports and Physical Education), and Peter Santosh Diwakar (Life Member), presented each player with a shawl and a memento commemorating 180 years of YMCA and a century of its connection to the Olympic Movement.
