Hyderabad: Youngster held for harassing woman on social media

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Cybercrime police arrested a youngster on charges of stalking and harassing a woman on social media here on Wednesday.

The arrested person is G Sridhar Reddy (26), a resident of Mallikarjun Nagar in Bairamalguda in LB Nagar. According to the police, Reddy met the victim in 2012 and since then they were in contact with each other on phone and met in person a few times. During their friendship, Reddy collected her personal pictures from her mobile phone.

In 2017, he proposed to her but she rejected, following which he started harassing her on phone. When she discarded her SIM, Reddy started calling and harassing her mother threatening to publicise her daughter’s pictures.

Based on the victim’s complaint, the Cybercrime cell booked a case and nabbed Reddy, who was produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
