Hyderabad: Youth gets 25 years’ rigorous imprisonment for raping minor
A local court in Hyderabad sentenced 24-year-old A. Aakash Kumar to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a 16-year-old girl in Lallaguda in 2019. The survivor, now an engineering student, thanked police for securing the conviction.
Hyderabad: A local court on Wednesday has sentenced a youth to rigourous imprisonment for a period of 25-years in the rape and criminal intimidation case of a minor girl reported at Lallaguda in 2019. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him.
The convict identified as A Aakash Kumar (24) of New Mettuguda in Secunderabad had stalked the 16-year-old girl and by putting her in fear of sharing her private photos, sexually violated her several times. He further threatened her not to reveal it to her family members.
Fearing consequences, the girl remained silent for many days and stopped going to college too. The incident came to light after her college management informed her parents about her irregular attendance. On being enquired by her parents, she shared the ordeal.
Based on a complaint from the girl’s mother, the Lallaguda police booked a case and arrested Aakash Kumar.
The girl, who is currently pursuing engineering, thanked the police for their efforts in securing conviction in the case.
