Hyderabad: The Saidabad police caught one Syed Ameer (25) from Yakutpura on charges of stealing Rs 2.6 lakh from a shepherd here on Saturday.
Police said Ameer, who observed that the complainant Ramavath Hamjya from Nalgonda had cash with him after selling his sheep for Bakrid, targeted him when he was fast asleep on Wednesday night.
“The complainant had the cash in a bag. He slept on the road near IS Sadan, by tying the bag to his waist. Ameer flicked the bag quietly and fled,” police said. The Saidabad police with the help of CCTV footage identified and nabbed Ameer. Rs 2 lakh was recovered.
