Hyderabad: Yet another case of police high-handedness, while dealing with youngsters moving around late in the night, came to light in the city on Sunday.
A 22-year-old man, Shaik Asif, a resident of Bholakpur in Musheerabad, sustained injuries after a policeman reportedly hit him violently with a fibre stick on Friday night.
According to Shaik Afsar, the elder brother of Shaik Asif, who works at a cloth store, the victim had returned home from work around 12.30 am and went out to get some food.
“On spotting a policeman chasing away the youth, Asif also tried to run away. The policeman, however, chased him in the lanes and repeatedly hit him with a stick even though my brother fell down,” alleged Afsar.
The policeman later left the place, leaving behind Asif on the street, although the latter was profusely bleeding.
“Later that night, my brother went to Gandhi Hospital and took treatment for the injuries,” said Afsar.
The family has demanded action against the police constable for allegedly hitting Asif.
Last week, another constable working at Tolichowki police station had thrashed a hotel worker, injuring him. The video of the incident had gone viral on social media platforms.
