Hyderabad: Despite the second wave of Covid-19 and Lockdown 2.0, Hyderabadis didn’t let Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations go completely dull. Just like the last year, Eid was celebrated by Muslims on Friday at their homes and by wishing relatives and friends on conference video calls.
“Our day of Eid began by giving Zakat-Al- Fitr to the needy followed by Eid Namaz and a relishing spread of Biryani and Sheer Khurma. Our family planned a celebration indoors and we rejoiced with our relatives over a conference video call,” says MBA student Ayesha Fatima.
Several shared that they prayed for an end to the pandemic. “We celebrated it with a lot of faith and belief. Our day started with a morning prayer followed by a scrumptious meal and the most favourite sheer khurma. We wished our grandparents on video call keeping in view their safety and still being able to get their abundant blessings,” shared Nafisa Hussain, another student.
Eid-ul-Fitr is a festival of charity that also teaches us to help the poor by giving them Zakat so that they can celebrate Eid like all others, shares Shaik Faheem, Senior Risk Investigator, Amazon. “As there is a lockdown in force, we offered prayers at home and wished our near and dear ones over video calls. My family and I relished our favourite bagara khana along with sheer khurma,” he added.
