Hyderabad’s IT growth rate pegged at 17.93 pc

Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s IT growth has now reached 17.93 per cent, more than double the national IT growth of 8.09 per cent, TRS MLA S Saidireddy said on Wednesday.

“IT means Hyderabad and it is continuing to expand for the last six years,” he said, adding that Google and Microsoft had already established base in the city. The IT exports before 2014 was Rs.66,000 crore which had shot up to 1.28 lakh crore, he said, participating in the discussion on the State budget in the State Assembly here.

Compared to other departments, the IT department was in the forefront in creating more jobs. Of the totaI 43 lakh IT jobs in the country, 5.82 lakh jobs were created in Telangana, he said.

Saireddy said major companies were investing in city on a large scale. Amazon has invested Rs.20,000 crore in city. All these development activities in IT and ITES sectors happened through the IT department headed by Minister KT Rama Rao.

After interacting with eminent personalities in IT sector and other experts, the State government has started T-hub. With foresight, Rama Rao brought industrialist Ratan Tata to T-hub. Ratan Tata described T-Hub as a new face of India.

As many as 337 new entrepreneurs got opportunity to start operations in phase one at T-Hub and the phase II is coming in four lakh sft. T-Works is helping hardware and electronic engineers and through We-Hub, 4527 women entrepreneurs got loans.

Saidireddy urged the government to expand the IT operations to the city suburbs in Kompally, Shamshabad, Uppal and Kollur among other areas for the convenience of industrialists and employees.

Since animation is a big industry, two image towers with 16 lakh sft is coming up to create more employment opportunities and work will be completed soon, he said. He explained about the e-offices, Mee Seva services, T-Wallet, T-Web and T-Fibre facilities in the city.
