HYDERABAD: Driven by a childhood aspiration to serve society and ensure justice, Hyderabad resident N Chetana Reddy is among the 151 officer trainees set to participate in the passing-out parade of the 78th Regular Recruit (RR) batch at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) on Saturday.
Allotted to the Telangana cadre, Chetana said her parents, Dr Venkataraman and Dr Kavita, both doctors, had inspired her through their dedication to service. Their encouragement gave her the freedom to pursue her ambition of joining the civil services.
Recalling her training experience, she said the programme combined classroom instruction with practical exposure to policing. Trainees study criminal laws, forensic science and information and communication technology, besides undergoing outdoor training, firearms handling and horse riding.
Police station visits across different commissionerates have helped them understand how classroom lessons translate into field-level policing. The training also exposes them to a wide range of cases, from conventional criminal offences to crimes against women, cybercrime and offences under the NDPS Act.
Chetana said the field visits had helped her connect theoretical knowledge with the realities of policing. She stressed that officers must strive to deliver justice and uphold the rule of law wherever they are posted.
