Hyderabad’s Old City hit by flooding after overnight rains
Heavy overnight rains flooded several areas of Hyderabad’s Old City, damaging homes, shops, and vehicles. With little official help, residents tried clearing water themselves as multiple localities reported severe waterlogging, causing inconvenience to commuters and losses to traders.

Hyderabad: Heavy rains that lashed Hyderabad on Saturday night resulted in the flooding of several areas in the old city.
With little help from the authorities, people here tried to find a solution themselves. In several areas, the residents were seen trying to open the manhole cover to pave way for the discharge of water from the roads.
“Two wheelers got washed away due to the heavy flow of water. Water entered into the houses as well damaging the household articles,” complained Ishaq Shaik, a resident of Amannagar.
Complaints of water entering into the houses were reported from several areas including Malakpet, Amannagar, Tallabkatta, Yakutpura, Bilalnagar, Afzalsagar, Kalapather, Chatrinaka, Uppuguda and Lalithabagh.
At Charminar, the rain water entered the shops damaging the goods. A trader Mohd Ghouse, said he suffered losses after water entered into the godown at Gulzar Houz road.
Water logging was also reported on the main thoroughfare causing inconvenience to the road users. Complains were reported from National Police Academy road, Bahadurpura, Chatrinaka, Bandlaguda, Falaknuma, Chandrayangutta, Dabeerpura and Malakpet road.
