Hyderabad’s Pranav Madav wins three gold medals in national ice skating
Hyderabad's ice speed skater S Pranav Madav clinched three gold medals at the 21st National Ice Skating Championship in Dehradun, winning the 500m, 1,000m and 1,500m events and continuing his preparations for the 2030 Winter Olympics.
Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s ice speed skater S Pranav Madav continued his golden run at the 21st National Ice Skating Championship in Dehradun by winning three gold medals in commanding fashion.
On the final day of the 21st National Ice Skating Championship, Pranav Madav fulfilled his hat-trick dream by winning his third gold medal in the 1,000m event with a remarkable timing of 1 minute and 33 seconds.
Earlier, Pranav emerged victorious in the 500-metre event with an outstanding timing of 44.70 seconds, displaying explosive speed and flawless technique. He followed it up with another dominant performance in the 1,500-metre race to secure his second gold medal and establish himself as one of the standout performers of the championship.
Pranav began his sporting journey under the mentorship of coach Abdul Qudeer, who laid the foundation of his career. Through his guidance, Pranav developed the discipline, work ethic and passion that every successful athlete needs. Those early years built the confidence and determination that continue to drive him today.
Pranav advanced to professional-level training under coach Abbas Iqbal Lasaniya. With expert coaching, structured training programmes and continuous support, coach Abbas helped transform Pranav into a professional athlete with an emphasis on technical excellence, physical conditioning and mental strength.
Currently, Pranav is training under renowned Canadian coach Andrew Frederick, who is preparing him for the ultimate goal, the 2030 Winter Olympics.
Under Andrew’s international-level guidance, Pranav is refining his skills, enhancing his performance and working relentlessly to meet the demanding standards of Olympic competition.
