Hyderabad: As part of monsoon preparedness, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (Hydraa) took up cleaning of clogged stormwater drains and sewer lines in three civic bodies, GHMC, CMC and MMC, to ensure free flow of the rainwater.
A press release said on Sunday that Hydraa, in coordination with the civic bodies, took up the cleaning operation and lifted truckloads of waste that were obstructing the free flow of floodwater in stormwater drains.
The DRF teams deployed earth movers and removed cable wires, plastic covers, mattresses, pillows, blankets, sofas, chairs, and other unusable household items in drains and box drains for the past two days.
The condition of the stormwater drain passing through Mehdipatnam, Mallepally, and Vijayanagar Colony before merging into the Musi River, known as the Aghapura nala, became alarming. Near Darussalam, floodwater stopped moving forward at the culvert because of accumulated waste, and now been cleared.
In the box drain on the left side of the road from Miyapur toward Patancheru, a mass of cable wires was found piled up and removed.
