Hyderabad: After nearly a month-long pause, Hydraa resumed its demolition drive on Monday, clearing encroachments on a nala in AVB Puram, Kukatpally Mandal, Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The nala, which connects Pariki Lake to the Kukatpally nala, had its width reduced from 10 meters to just over three meters due to encroachments, Hydraa authorities said.
According to an official release from Hydraa, “Two shutters were constructed over the nala, and structures were built on the manhole. These were used for selling and repairing cell phones and laptops. They became bottlenecks, causing frequent inundations in Saibaba Colony, HAL Colony, and Maitrinagar.”
Residents from the three areas had reported that even brief rainfall caused flooding, as water could not flow smoothly, inundating neighborhoods.
Officials from the HMWSSB inspected the location first, and based on their report, Hydraa carried out the demolitions.
