HYDRAA clears garbage blocking flood water beneath Moosarambagh bridge
Heavy floodwaters from Himayatsagar caused garbage and plastic waste to accumulate at Hyderabad’s Moosarambagh bridge, obstructing the Musi River’s flow and affecting nearby low-lying areas. HYDRAA, along with DRF, MET, and GHMC, launched a cleanup operation using heavy machinery, successfully restoring the river flow.

Hyderabad: A large volume of garbage and plastic waste, which had accumulated at the Moosarambagh bridge, blocking the flow of the Musi River, was cleared by the teams of Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Friday. The water level had increased due to the release of the surplus floodwater from Himayatsagar.
On Friday, the HYDRAA teams visited the site and observed that the debris carried by the floodwaters had created a significant obstruction at the Moosarambagh bridge, severely impeding the flow of water in the river.
The floodwaters had entered low-lying areas, including Chadarghat, Shankarnagar, Moosarambagh, and Rasulpur. The HYDRAA team immediately responded and initiated the cleanup operation at the Moosarambagh bridge. Two JCBs and tippers were deployed to continuously remove the accumulated debris, which included garbage, plastic waste, and other items. As a result of these efforts, the river’s flow was restored.
Officials from the Disaster Response Force (DRF), Monsoon Emergency Teams (MET), and GHMC staff, led by the agency officials, participated in the cleanup operation.
