Hyderabad: Over the years, Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna have carved their own paths in South Indian cinema. Now, with Coolie, their on-screen association is finally taking shape.
At the Hyderabad press meet for Coolie, Rajinikanth shared an interesting anecdote about the film’s development. When director Lokesh Kanagaraj first narrated the character of Simon to him, he found it instantly compelling. “I told Lokesh I really liked the role and wanted to do it,” he said.
However, Lokesh had other plans. “He told me he had written the role for Nagarjuna and said he would convince him at any cost,” Rajinikanth recalled.
Praising Nagarjuna’s performance, Rajinikanth admitted, “He did so well in Simon’s character that I don’t think I could have done it better.”
He also commented on the actor’s remarkable fitness. “He still looks as fit and fine as I saw him years ago,” he said. Rajinikanth also added, “When asked about the secret behind it, Nagarjuna credited his consistent workout routine, a disciplined diet, and ‘some good genes from my dad.”
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie has been in the spotlight for its strong cast and action-packed theme. With names like Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna involved, the buzz around the film continues to grow. Apart from these two stars the powerhouse cast also includes Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Aamir Khan and Soubin Shahir.
