Hyderabad: Angel Orelien netted twice to fashion Sreenidi Deccan FC’s second win of the I-League 2024-25 season, defeating Rajasthan United FC 2-1 at the Deccan Arena on Thursday.

The Panamanian winger opened the scoring for the Deccan Warriors in the 21st minute, but Rajasthan United equalised through Seiminmang Manchong in the 57th minute. Orelien then doubled his tally with a spectacular winning goal in the 86th minute of the game.

Sreenidi head coach Rui Amorim made two changes to his starting line-up, bringing in Gabriel Rosenberg and Rolieny Bonevacia for Lalchungnunga and Faysal Shayesteh. The hosts began the game on a strong note, dominating possession from the outset. In the 21st minute, Rosenberg and Jagdeep combined effectively down the right wing, resulting in a deflected cross from Rosenberg that was brilliantly volleyed into the net by Angel Orelien.

Rosenberg had an opportunity to extend the lead shortly after but headed a cross wide. Despite their dominance, the Deccan Warriors ended the first half with a 1-0 advantage. During the halftime break, Rui Amorim introduced Faysal and Chunga in place of Rolieny and Rosenberg. The Deccan Warriors continued pressing for a second goal, but it was Rajasthan United FC who levelled the scoreline through Seiminmang Manchong in the 57th minute.

As the match progressed, both teams pushed hard for a winning goal. It took a moment of brilliance from Angel Orelien in the 86th minute—a magical strike directly from a corner—to secure the victory and all three points for Sreenidi Deccan FC. Amorim’s side will next face Delhi FC on Monday at the Deccan Arena.
