Hyderabad: Sreenidi Deccan FC delivered a commanding first-half performance to secure a 3-0 victory over Aizawl FC in Round 12 of the I-League 2024-25 at the Deccan Arena, Hyderabad, on Monday.
Defender Gurmukh Singh opened the scoring in the opening minutes of the game and Lalromawia doubled the lead in the 25th minute. Eight minutes later, David Castaneda netted the third goal for the Deccan Warriors.
Assistant coach Ishant Singh, currently in charge of the team, made two changes to his starting lineup, with Brandon Vanlalremdika and Gurmukh replacing Ajay Chhetri and Eli Sabia. The hosts dominated the game from the start, with both William Oliveira and David Castaneda putting constant pressure on the opposition’s defence.
In the 5th minute, a free kick was awarded on the right flank, and Gurmukh met Angel Orelien’s delivery at the far post to open the scoring. In the 25th minute, forward William Oliveira combined well with Lalromawia down the right flank, and the latter unleashed a venomous shot to find the back of the net, doubling the lead for the home side.
Eight minutes later, Lalromawia combined with Hardik Bhatt down the right flank, and Hardik delivered a perfect cross for Castaneda, who headed it past the opposition keeper to make it 3-0 for the hosts, the hosts went into the break in a dominant scoreline of 3-0.
In the second half, Aizawl FC made several changes in an attempt to mount a comeback, but Sreenidi Deccan’s resilient defence held firm, securing their first clean sheet of the season. With this win, Sreenidi Deccan FC will look to carry their momentum forward as they prepare to host Real Kashmir FC on Thursday at the Deccan Arena.
