Mancherial: Payyavula Sai Shriya, who shot to fame with her dance to the tunes of a Telangana folk song during the Baraat ceremony of her marriage, said she wanted to dance for her husband and to cheer her up parents who were upset at sending her off. “I never expected the clip to go viral and make me famous,” she said.
Speaking to Telangana Today over phone on Friday, the new bride said: “I never imagined that the video would evoke such a massive response. I loved the song and lyrics. My husband was impressed and was surprised by my dance performance that day,” she said.
The computer science graduate said her family members complimented her for dancing to the song. “Similarly, I felt happy that I was felicitated by members of Alaya Foundation, a voluntary organisation founded by senior IAS officer P Narahari, in Godavarikhani on Thursday. Singer Mohana Bhogaraju too commented on the video and congratulated us on Instagram for becoming an Internet sensation,” she said.
The daughter of a forest official from Jannaram mandal centre said she was flooded with congratulatory messages and calls from relatives, friends and users of social media platforms. She said she will not venture into dancing or take up acting in the future. She thanked all those who watched the clip and blessed the couple on Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram.
