Hyderabad: The countdown is set for the Indian Air Force (IAF) air show as the air devils from the Suryakiran aerobatic team will present a thrilling aerial display here on Sunday.

The team will perform an aerobatic display over the picturesque Hussain Sagar Lake from 3 pm to 5 pm. The air show being conducted as part of the IAF outreach programme will surely be an event to remember for the spectators as the air devils will perform breath-taking aerobatic manoeuvres such as loops, rolls, crosses and inverted flying, a press release said.

The Suryakiran team consists of nine Hawk Mk 132 aircraft flying in extremely close proximity at a distance of merely 5 metres. There are 12 pilots in the team led by Su-30 MKI pilot Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, while deputy leader is Group Captain Sidhesh Kartik, it said.

The IAF Suryakiran aerobatic team, which was established in 1996, holds the coveted title of being the only nine-aircraft aerobatic team in Asia, and one of the elite few teams in the world.

The team performed over 700 displays across India, while also representing the professionalism of the IAF at international air shows in countries such as China, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Thailand, Singapore, and the UAE.

The Hawk Mk 132 advanced jet trainer is used to impart fighter flying training to the newly commissioned pilots of the IAF. This aircraft is made in India today by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) showcasing the nation’s aviation technology.
