Chennai: Actor-director Dhanush revealed that Arun Vijay, who plays the antagonist in his upcoming film Idli Kadai, continued shooting despite receiving a severe blow to his face during an action sequence.
Speaking at the audio launch of the film held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai, Dhanush praised Arun Vijay, calling him a dedicated and sincere actor.
“We had such a great time working with each other. I have found a good friend in Arun Vijay. You (Arun Vijay) have worked very hard for this film,” Dhanush said.
He recounted: “During a fight sequence, we both had to be in the air. I had to deliver a punch. My hand, by mistake, landed on his mouth. He bled. If someone else had been there, shooting would have stopped for two hours. Arun Vijay just took a moment, put an ice cube there, and said, ‘Let’s go.’ Very dedicated, very sincere. Thank you for having absolute faith in me. It was an absolute privilege to work with you and direct you.”
Dawn Pictures, one of the production houses behind the film, had initially announced an April 10 release, but later postponed it to October 1.
Arun Vijay plays the antagonist, setting up an intense face-off with Dhanush. Actress Shalini Pandey also has a pivotal role.
Idli Kadai, starring Dhanush and Nithya Menon in lead roles, is directed by Dhanush and jointly produced by his Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures. The film has cinematography by Kiran Koushik and music by GV Prakash.
