IED explosion in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar kills one DRG Inspector, two constables

Kothagudem: Three District Reserve Guard (DRG) jawans, including one inspector and two constables, died and one sustained serious injuries in a landmine blast on the Kanker-Narayanpur district border in Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
According to police, a DRG team left to carry out a de-mining and search operation in the area under Chottebethia police station limits. Four members of the team came under an accidental explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) during the de-mining operation.
DRG Inspector Sukhram Vatti, constables Krishna Komra and Sanjay Garhpal died on the spot due to severe injuries, while constable Parmanand Komra was shifted to a hospital for treatment. They belong to the Kanker DRG team.
Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P informed that, based on information provided by surrendered Maoist cadres and other inputs, hundreds of IEDs planted by Maoists in the past were being recovered and defused by security forces.
