IICT scientist awarded CRSI bronze medal for the year 2026
Dr Rambabu Chegondi, Principal Scientist at CSIR-IICT, Hyderabad, has been awarded the CRSI Bronze Medal 2026 for his work in Asymmetric Catalysis. He will be honoured at the CRSI National Symposium in Chemistry, scheduled in February 2026 at Dibrugarh University

Hyderabad: Dr Rambabu Chegondi, Principal Scientist at Hyderabad-based Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), has been awarded the prestigious Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI) Bronze Medal for the year 2026 in recognition of his significant contributions to Asymmetric Catalysis in Organic Chemistry, according to a press release on Wednesday.
Instituted in 1999 by CRSI, the CRSI Bronze Medal honours young researchers who have made outstanding contributions in any branch of Chemistry. Medallists are selected through a rigorous nomination process involving eminent scientists.
Dr Chegondi will be formally presented with the CRSI Bronze Medal at the 36th CRSI National Symposium in Chemistry, to be held at Dibrugarh University in February 2026.
As part of the recognition, he will deliver a 10-minute flash talk and present a poster showcasing his research work during the event.
Dr Chegondi obtained his MSc from the University of Hyderabad and earned his PhD in Organic Chemistry from CSIR-IICT. He then pursued postdoctoral research at the University of Kansas, USA, before returning to India and joining CSIR-IICT as a Scientist.
Dr Chegondi has received several notable accolades, including the AVRA Young Scientist Award and the SERB-STAR Award. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
