KTR accuses Revanth Reddy of family enrichment, takes Tesseract land row to ground

BRS working president KT Rama Rao alleged irregularities in the allotment of government land to a company linked to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s brother and demanded ED, Income Tax and CBI probes, while warning investors over the proposed Future City project

Hyderabad: Stepping up the attack on the Congress government, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said his party MLAs were suspended from the Assembly to prevent them from questioning Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy over the irregularities in the allocation of valuable government land to a company linked to his brother Kondal Reddy. The party demanded an investigation by the Central agencies into the land scam.

Rama Rao made the allegations after leading a team of BRS MLAs, including BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao, to inspect the land allotted to Tesseract Advanced Systems in the proposed Bharat Fourth City. Former Ministers P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Talasani Srinivas Yadav and several other legislators and senior leaders accompanied the team. The party leaders said land worth around Rs 200 crore had been allotted to the company for just Rs 7 crore.

Soon after the party leaders’ breakfast meeting at his residence on Thursday, Rama Rao and other BRS leaders reached the Tukkuguda-Raviryal area in a large convoy and held a protest at the site, carrying placards and banners with slogans of Revanth Reddy and his brothers indulging in land encroachments and wrongful land allotments.

Speaking on the occasion, the BRS working president said the Congress government was favouring members of the Chief Minister’s family while claiming to promote investments in Telangana. He questioned whether young entrepreneurs setting up companies with as small capital would also be given land worth hundreds of crores at cheap price. “Today, if any youth in Telangana starts a company with a capital of Rs 1 lakh, will you also give them land worth Rs 200 crore?” he asked.

Rama Rao stated that Kondal Reddy had set up an aerospace and defence company and entered into an alliance with an Israeli innovation company before receiving five acres of land. He said another company linked to Anumula Jagadishwar Reddy had received benefits worth Rs 1,000 crore in an agreement with the State government, questioning whether such allocations constituted “people’s governance” (Praja Palana) promised by the ruling Congress.

He also questioned Congress Lok Sabha leader Rahul Gandhi over the issue and sought him to explain on the Congress’s claims of delivering “Indiramma Rajyam” (Indira Gandhi rule). “Does ‘Indiramma Rajyam’ mean making all your brothers, sisters, and relatives rich and wealthy? Is that the main principle of your Indiramma Rajyam?” he asked Revanth Reddy.

Targeting the BJP, Rama Rao asked why it was silent on the alleged land deals and demanded Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax and CBI probe. “If the BJP is sincere, if the BJP truly wants to act on this, there must immediately be an investigation by the ED, IT, and CBI. Everything must come out into the open,” he said.

He said Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy launched an aerospace and defence company after seeing the Chief Minister’s initiatives.

The former Minister said the BRS would explain the alleged irregularities in the Future City project through village-level meetings across Rangareddy district and approach courts if necessary. He warned investors against becoming victims by investing in the Future City which would have no future.

He accused the Congress government of indulging in political theatrics during the Assembly session and suspending BRS legislators fearing questions on its alleged failures, including the Six Guarantees and 420-plus election promises. However, he said the party would continue the fight outside the Assembly and raise the issues before the people. He also announced plans to complain to the police over an alleged fake social media account mentioned by the Chief Minister in the Assembly and issue a privilege notice against him.
