Sangareddy: Rectors and Vice-Chancellors from 20 German universities brought together by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) visited the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) to expand academic and research collaborations at the institute’s campus here on Monday.

The visit focused on investigating and developing bilateral partnerships with Indian higher education institutions. The discussions were led by Dr Kai Sicks, general secretary, DAAD, Kathrin Misera-Lang, Consul General, German Consulate Chennai, and Prof B S Murty, Director, IIT-H.

The delegation discussed the possible research collaborations, faculty, and student exchange programmes, organising research workshops, virtual brainstorming sessions, joint supervision, and dual degree programmes.

Dr Misera-Lang observed that India and Germany were expanding their partnerships in many areas. She observed that closer academic cooperation between these two countries holds a lot of potential.

Prof Murty said the visit of the DAAD delegation and German university leaders would mark a significant milestone in strengthening Indo-German ties in higher education and research.
