Officials have been directed to complete the NSP spillway works after obtaining the study reports.
Hyderabad: The potholes that surfaced on the spillway of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam has finally caught the attention of the State government. A thorough study of the condition of the spill way and recurrence of the potholes would be taken up under the guidance of IIT Roorkee to ensure effective solutions. Based on the recommendations, the government will take up a rehabilitation programme.
Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, who held a review meeting at Jala Soudha on Tuesday, directed officials to complete the spillway works after obtaining the study reports.
Permissions have been granted for the construction of the Anumala Check Dam. The Minister emphasised the need to expedite the Phase-1 works of the Nellikal Lift Irrigation Scheme to ensure water supply by the upcoming Kharif season. He urged officials to immediately start the tender process for the high-level, low-level and link canal works and to swiftly complete the administrative approvals for the low-level canal lining proposals.
The Minister also instructed officials to prepare estimates for the repairs of IDC lift irrigation schemes and to promptly restore and expand the ayacut areas.
