Karimnagar: Illiterate members of women self-help groups are going to get education under Understanding of Lifelong Learning for All in Society (ULLAS).
Besides illiterate women, dropouts will also be helped to pursue Class X and graduation on distance mode.
For this purpose, both the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP) and Education Departments are working in coordination by preparing plans.
Only 50 per cent of SHG woman are signing the documents while the remaining are giving thumb impressions. So, the government has decided to take the literacy programme under ULLAS to ensure the SHG women can read and write.

Officials are also planning to provide job opportunities by providing training in different technical courses. Training will be given in the banking sector (financial discipline), nutritious food and personal hygiene.
Women will be provided education by forming groups and there will be 15 to 20 members in each group. Volunteers will teach education to ladies. Educated members of the women groups will be appointed as volunteers.
For this purpose, district and mandal level committees have already been constituted to implement the programme. While the Collector would be the chairman of the committee, DEO is the convenor. DPO and officials of other departments are members.
In the mandal committee, MPDO is chairman while MEO, headmasters, community resources persons (CRPs) are members.
