IMD issues heavy rain alert for 13 Telangana districts over next three days

After weeks of dry weather, the IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in 13 Telangana districts over the next three days. Strong winds of up to 40 kmph are also expected, with officials advising people to remain cautious during heavy rain and gusty conditions.

Hyderabad: Following weeks of dry weather and a widening rainfall deficit across Telangana, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has issued a heavy rainfall warning for multiple districts for the next three days, starting from Tuesday.

A heavy rainfall warning, ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm of rainfall, has been issued for 13 key districts, including Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, and Warangal.

Additionally, strong surface winds with speeds reaching 30 to 40 km/h are expected to prevail across isolated pockets in all districts of the state. The wet spell is projected to persist over the coming days, with light to moderate showers continuing at a few places across Telangana.

Heavy rainfall alerts remain active for isolated areas in districts such as Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Nirmal, and Nizamabad through late July.

Strong gusty winds will also remain a recurring hazard across the entire state until the end of the month. In light of the heavy spells and gusty conditions, IMD weather officials in the weather bulletin have cautioned general public to be cautious during heavy rains and strong winds.
